Why Is Some Outbound Traffic Blocked?

networking security traffic blocking SMTP

To protect our network and reputation, certain outbound ports are blocked by default on trial and new accounts. The blocked ports include:

SMTP (port 25): Used for sending email. Blocked to prevent spam.
FTP (port 21): File transfer. Blocked to prevent unauthorized distribution.
SSH (port 22, outbound): Secure shell. Blocked to prevent your server being used to attack other systems.
Telnet (port 23): Blocked for the same reason as SSH.

These restrictions help prevent Go2Cloud infrastructure from being used for malicious purposes, which protects all customers on our network.

Once you have an established paid account, you can request that specific ports be unblocked by contacting support@go2cloud.co.za.
