How Do I Resize My Disk Drive?

storage resize disk management partitions

Resizing a drive depends on whether you are making it larger or smaller.

Growing a drive:
1. Power off your server.
2. Open the drive configuration in the control panel and increase the size.
3. Save and restart your server.
4. Within your operating system, extend the partition to use the newly available space. On Linux, use tools like resize2fs or lvextend. On Windows, use Disk Management to extend the volume.

Shrinking a drive:
Shrinking is more complex because it requires careful handling to avoid data loss.
1. First, shrink the partition within your operating system to free up space at the end of the drive.
2. Contact support@go2cloud.co.za to request the drive size reduction.
3. Our team will verify the partition boundaries and safely reduce the drive allocation.

This manual process for shrinking is in place as a safety measure to prevent accidental data loss.
